Jaclyn M Zito, PA

Jaclyn Zito, PA-C completed her medical schooling at Touro College School of Heath Sciences and graduated the combined program with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies/Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 2015, as Valedictorian with a Highest Academic Achievement Award. She had felt drawn to the specialty of Vascular Neurology (Stroke Neurology) since both her grandmother and her aunt/godmother had suffered a stroke a couple years prior to her graduating from PA school, her grandmother having only residual mild speaking difficulties and her aunt unfortunately passing away from the stroke. She has felt compelled to help others in similar situations and started her career as a Physician Assistant on the Stroke Neurology team at Maimonides Medical Center in 2015, acting as the solo stroke provider during the night shifts for the entire hospital. After about a year and a half of commuting to Brooklyn from Suffolk County while planning her upcoming wedding to her Highschool sweetheart, she then decided to bring her medical expertise and compassionate patient care to Stony Brook Medicine, joining their Stroke Neurology team in 2016. Since then, she has been working both in the inpatient setting taking care of the acute stroke patients as well as outpatient at both Commack and Lake Grove locations where she does post-stroke management and risk factor management in order to prevent recurrent stroke/vascular events. She feels lucky enough to be able to care for stroke patients after discharge, forming a long-term relationship with them as they continue on their stroke recovery journey. She is also working in multiple research areas and is a co-investigator in the ASPIRE and FASTEST trials along with other Stony Brook Vascular Neurology colleagues.
