About Olga C Aroniadis

About

Olga Aroniadis, MD, MSc, FACG is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she also holds the Svetlana Koroleva Endowed Professorship in Gastroenterology. She serves as Director of the Master’s Program in Epidemiology and Clinical Research within the Program of Public Health at the Renaissance School of Medicine and is the Founder and Director of the Gastrointestinal Women’s Health Center at Stony Brook.

Dr. Aroniadis’ clinical practice focuses on disorders of gut–brain interaction and gastrointestinal health as it relates to women. Her research interests center on microbial therapeutics for gastrointestinal disease—including Clostridioides difficile infection and irritable bowel syndrome. She has led multiple investigator-initiated studies evaluating fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), including a randomized clinical trial assessing FMT for diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome.

Nationally, Dr. Aroniadis serves on the Educational Affairs Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology and has been Course Director for the biannual ACG Imaging and Pathology Course for over a decade. Internationally, she is Chair of the Executive Committee of the Rome Foundation Partners Program, where she serves as the U.S. lead. A dedicated clinician-educator, Dr. Aroniadis is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and to the teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Aroniadis completed her undergraduate education at Tufts University, graduating summa cum laude. She earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, graduating with Research Distinction in Gastroenterology, and completed her internal medicine residency and chief residency at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Montefiore. She also obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Prior to joining Stony Brook in 2019, she served as faculty at Montefiore Medical Center.
