Susan W Lane, MD

Prior to entering medical school, I taught high school Biology and French.  Education has been an enduring core value and I have been fortunate to combine patient care with teaching in my role as a primary care physician and medical educator.  I spend much of my time directing the Stony Brook University Hospital Internal Medicine residency training program, the largest residency training program in Suffolk County.  Our program is committed to developing the next generation of physicians who provide compassionate, evidence-based medicine with a focus on communication, collaboration, and education.
My academic interests include communication, advocacy, and medical education curriculum design and assessment.  Outside of Stony Brook Medicine, I serve on the board of directors for the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine, organizations committed to excellence in patient care and medical education. As a Master in the American College of Physicians (MACP), I am committed to advancing the art and science of medicine and serving as a teacher and mentor for the next generation of internal medicine physicians.
