Adam Kressel, MD, PhD

Dr. Adam Kressel was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University, and a Medical Degree from Tulane University. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Northwell Health, during which he acquired a PhD in Molecular Medicine studying the interaction of the nervous and immune systems. Following his general surgery training, Dr. Kressel matched into the Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Throughout his training, Dr. Kressel excelled both in and out of the operating room and served as a role model for medical students and residents.

Dr. Kressel joins the Departments of Urology and General Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital as a transplant surgeon under the mentorship of Dr. Wayne Waltzer and Dr. Frank Darras. In addition to expanding the transplant services provided at Stony Brook Medical Center, Dr. Kressel will also be conducting research alongside undergraduate, graduate, and medical students and residents. Dr. Kressel is excited to join the faculty at Stony Brook University Hospital and improve the lives of our transplant patients.
