Amanda A Gorecki, DO

Amanda Gorecki, D.O. is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She is double board certified by The American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in Child & Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. Child & adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital provided opportunity to pursue specialized education in autism spectrum disorders, in conjunction with The Kennedy Krieger Institute. This helped developed her interest and desire to work with children with autism and developmental disabilities. She carried this passion to Stony Brook where she provides consultation, assessment, and longitudinal psychiatric care for children and adolescents, sub-specializing in treatment of children on the autism spectrum. Furthermore, through this passion a therapy group for adolescent girls on the autism spectrum was born. Dr. Gorecki is also the head of a partnership with a residential school of adolescents with high functioning autism where psychiatric care and consultation is provided. In addition to clinical work, Dr. Gorecki is heavily engaged in teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students through direct patient encounters, didactics, and weekly journal club. She has published on varied topics in autism and child psychiatry.
