About
Dr. Amanda Levinson is a licensed clinical psychologist, who obtained a B.S. in Psychology from Haverford College and an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University. Dr. Levinson’s clinical practice focuses on addressing depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD. Additionally, Dr. Levinson has expertise in the problems of parenthood, including peripartum mood and anxiety changes, adjusting to the ever-changing role of parent, and effective parenting strategies. Dr. Levinson uses evidence-based practices, which include strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and attachment-based parenting therapies (PCIT, PMT, Strong Roots-Mom Power). In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Levinson conducts research on the brain basis of anxiety, depression, and parenting behavior. Her research is currently supported by the Long Island Network for Clinical and Translational Science (LINCATS).
