Anthony J Anzalone, PsyD

Dr. Anthony Anzalone is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He obtained his PsyD at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. He brings over two decades of clinical experience to Stony Brook, starting off his career working at a residential facility for five years helping children with various behavioral and emotional disorders. Following this, he worked in private practice, where he formed a partnership with colleges that specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for individuals with anxiety disorders. Dr. Anzalone is an active participant in the community, presenting numerous topics to the public. He regularly presented parent workshop modules to community members of CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity), presentations to high-schoolers on topics related to procrastination, anxiety, and healthy digital media usage. He has presented on the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Anxiety disorders to various professionals in the community. He has a long history of supervision, leading intern case conferences, peer supervision meetings, and served on clinical proficiency reviews for graduate students. Upon joining the faculty at Stony Brook, Dr. Anzalone has been involved in the supervision of interns, residents, and fellows in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Additionally, he has been trained in the Incredible Years Parenting Program and currently runs groups to help parents promote social, emotional, and academic competence in their children and generate flexible problem-solving skills. Dr. Anzalone has a keen interest in the impact of digital media use on the developing brain and was interviewed by Newsday on the topic, as well as being featured on ABCs Protecting Our Children.
