Antonia M Pinto, NP

Currently, I am a Nurse Practitioner with Stony Brook Urology- Kidney Transplant.  I obtained my associate’s degree in nursing from Suffolk County Community College, received my RN-BSN online from Chamberlain University, and went on to receive my master’s degree from St. Joseph’s University in the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner program.

I began my nursing profession working in medical oncology and switched to the Medical ICU shortly after. Working in the ICU for 6 years and through a pandemic, made my passion for caring for patients who were critically ill grow exponentially.  During that time, I worked closely with patients in renal failure requiring continuous dialysis treatments, which led me to join the Kidney Transplant team as a Nurse Practitioner.

Being a part of the Kidney Transplant Team at Stony Brook Medicine is extremely fulfilling. Having the opportunity to assist patients with getting a second chance to live their lives after working in the ICU for so many years is one of the best parts of my job. Through various testing/consults, I gather information and educate patients about being medically optimized for the kidney transplant list. It is my goal to provide the best care to my patients with compassion and knowledge, so they feel comfortable and remain informed about the process of organ donation and after.
