I vividly recall the defining moment that ignited my passion for obstetric anesthesiology. Discovering the transformative power of a few carefully chosen words to positively impact a patient's experience left an indelible impression on me. This field resonates deeply with my desire to meld hands-on healing with the art of communication.

Obstetric anesthesiology, with its dynamic nature, offers a unique blend of moments for composed, precise neuraxial anesthetics and adrenaline-pumping situations in a bustling operating room. The dichotomy of serenity and urgency keeps me engaged and sharp.

What draws me further into this specialty is the indispensable teamwork and mutual trust required between the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. Managing the well-being of both the mother and the unborn child demands synchronization, where decisions made by one directly influence the other.

Moreover, obstetric anesthesiology allows for the cultivation of genuine connections with patients, even within the brevity of our interactions. This aspect, I believe, distinguishes it as one of the few subspecialties in Anesthesiology where meaningful patient relationships can flourish, contributing to the profound sense of fulfillment I seek in my professional journey.

My roots in Suffolk County run deep. Growing up on Long Island, I embarked on my undergraduate journey at Stony Brook, forging a connection with the surrounding community. After departing in 2010 to pursue medical school as well as residency and fellowship training, I found myself drawn back to Stony Brook in 2020. This return not only signifies a geographical homecoming but also reflects the enduring impact and sense of belonging I associate with this vibrant region.
