Benjamin Fombonne, MD

I pursued a career in Emergency Medicine because it embodies all the values that drove me to become a physician: teamwork, versatility, and an undying desire to meet all patients anywhere, anytime and anyplace. I truly believe in the safety-net role that the ER provides. Additionally, the breadth and diversity of the patients and medical issues that come to the Emergency Room requires knowledge that draws upon all the specialties of the house of medicine, and I enjoy pursuing deeper understanding across the spectrum of medical fields. My academic interests include developing the field of emergency medicine globally, medical education, the role of Point of care ultrasound in low-resource settings, and the interface of emergency medicine with social determinants of health and at-risk populations.
