About
My name is Brian Wright. I am currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. I came to Stony Brook in 2013. I completed Medical School (MD-2004), Master in Public Health (MPH-2008) and residency training in Emergency Medicine (2008) at SUNY Downstate/Kings County Hospital. Afterwards I did a two year Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island, NY (2010).
I currently work in the ED Resuscitation and Critical Care Unit and Neurocritical Care Unit at Stony Brook Hospital. I have been the program director of the Advanced Resuscitation Training Program since 2015 and the Interim Director of the Division of Emergency Critical Care since 2021.
My academic and professional interests are in the integration of Critical Care across the pre-hospital to inpatient spectrum and educating the next generation of Critical Care physicians and providers. I have a particular interest in the use of Point of Care Ultrasound to help physicians and providers rapidly diagnose and treat medical and surgical emergencies, neurological emergencies, and use of non-invasive treatments for respiratory failure.
On a personal note I chose my field of care because I detest human suffering. I’m happy to be a part of the team here at Stony Brook in the Emergency Department and Neurocritical Care Unit. We always strive to provide the best care possible to our patients often on their worst of days.
