David B Cohen, MD

David Cohen, MD, is the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. After graduating from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1997, he completed his residency training at Stony Brook University and is board-certified in Emergency Medicine. In 2002, he joined the Stony Brook University faculty and shortly after was appointed the Director of Medical Education in the Emergency Department at University Hospital’s clinical affiliate, Peconic Bay Medical Center. In 2013, he became the Co-Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Emergency Department at Stony Brook University and the Associate Program Director for the Emergency Medicine residency program.

In his present role as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Cohen is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for students throughout their medical school training. He has a passion for student advocacy and is committed to providing academic support while enhancing student wellness and professional development. Dr. Cohen remains actively engaged in the clinical setting and strives to provide outstanding care for emergency room patients. He enjoys teaching students and residents of all levels and continues to serve as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, overseeing all student-related activities for the Emergency Department. Throughout his career, he has shown a deep commitment to both patient care and the professional development of future healthcare providers.
