About Debra C Reicher

About

Debra Reicher, Ph.D. is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. She has over 30 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist working with children, adolescents and families with particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of children on the Autism Spectrum. She is currently the clinical director of an interdisciplinary early childhood center and provides diagnostic and developmental assessments as well as treatment to children ages 6 months an up. She is also the Director of Clinical Training for our Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disorder’s program. Dr. Reicher is a core member of the Autism team in the Department of Psychiatry and plays an active role in the teaching and training of psychiatry residents and fellows. Previously, she worked as the Director of Psychological Services at the Hagedorn Little Village School, Jack Joel Center for Special Education where she directed the department and developed an internship program for doctoral students. Dr. Reicher received her Bachelor’s degree from Boston University and her Master’s degree and Doctorate in the Philosophy of Psychology from Alliant University in Los Angeles. She then completed an American Psychological Association Accredited internship at Child and Family Guidance in Northridge, California. Dr. Reicher went on to complete her postdoctoral fellowship in Developmental Disabilities at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Neuropsychiatric Institute-Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Prior to relocating back to the east coast, she also served as the Director of the Psychodiagnostic Unit at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California.
