Farhan A Chowdhury, DO

Dr. Chowdhury is a Palliative Care physician who specializes in pain management, symptom relief, and comprehensive support for patients with life-limiting conditions. He joined Stony Brook Medicine in August 2023 as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a residency in Family Medicine at the St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. He then completed a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at the Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Chowdhury’s clinical interests are managing complex and refractory symptoms for those at the End-of-life. He also advocates for fostering open communication and collaboration among patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Chowdhury is actively involved and interested in medical education, training future healthcare professionals in the principles of palliative care.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Chowdhury enjoys hiking, spending time with his family and exploring Long Island.
