Frank S Darras, MD

Dr. Frank Darras is the Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation Services and Professor of Urology at Stony Brook Medicine. Dr. Darras is board certified in urology with extensive experience in renal transplantation. He began a fellowship in renal transplant in 1990 at the University of Pittsburgh under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Starzl. Since that time Dr. Darras has held positions as Surgical Director of Renal Transplant at UCLA Medical Center in California, St. Mary Medical Center in California and St. Francis Medical Center in Illinois. He went on to become the Chairman of the Department of Transplantation at St. Francis Medical Center before joining Stony Brook University Hospital's Kidney Transplantation program in 2004.

Throughout his career, Dr. Darras has served on numerous committees and has received an extraordinary amount of both academic and professional honors. He puts himself at the forefront of changes and innovation for the transplant community to ensure that he can provide the best opportunity to his patients. 

Dr. Darras leads a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary transplant team who all share the same vision and goals. He has devoted himself to restoring quality of life back to his patients by providing the opportunity of world-class renal transplantation to patients right here on Long Island.
