Jeremy Herschler, MD

Jeremy Herschler, MD is a board certified addiction psychiatrist who will be working in the outpatient department.  He comes to us from West Virginia University where he served as the program director for the addiction psychiatry fellowship.  West Virginia is the hardest hit region of the country in the opioid epidemic and related deaths of despair.  Dr. Herschler worked in their comprehensive opioid addiction treatment program.  He provided psychiatric and addiction care for chronic pain patients in the pain clinic.  He managed dual diagnosis patients in the outpatient setting.  He also lectured to and supervised residents and fellows.  He has thirty years of clinical experience.  Dr. Herschler was trained at The University of Maryland where he worked with luminaries like Jerry Jaffe, the drug czar in the Nixon administration and Joe Liberto, former president of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry.  He has a particular interest in recovery innovation and the advancement of quality of life in addiction and mental health care as treatment without attention to recovery often leads to the reemergence of illness and worse outcomes
