Joanne M Camarda, NP

Joanne Camarda, CPNP is a Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology. During her nearly 24-year career at Stony Brook, she has been drawn to and has focused on this patient population in many different roles. As an RN, her primary responsibilities were at the bedside for direct patient care. Shortly after, she moved into the role of Unit Educator for both Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, where she focused on educating RNs caring for the same patient population. Joanne then focused her career on the Outpatient Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department, as the Nurse Manager, where she continued her passion for coordinating and educating the staff and patients. The Nurse Practitioner role combines Joanne's clinical expertise and compassionate approach to care for and educate inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients. She especially enjoys the continuity of care and relationship-building that treating this patient population offers. Joanne believes getting to know the patients and their families allows her to learn what matters most to critically ill patients and their families from the onset of diagnosis to treatment and cure.
