About
I went into Trauma Surgery and Critical Care because I liked the idea of being able to care for the whole person, from beginning to end. Trauma surgeons hold a unique privilege to evaluate someone in the emergency department, make a decision to stabilize their injuries in the operating room and care for them while they recover post-operatively.
During my training, I spent time in the lab working with models of the vascular endothelial system, trying to determine what therapeutic options might actually help real trauma patients. While medical therapies may change over time, the need to care for the whole person will not.
My goal is to form a partnership with my patients that helps me understand what is truly important to them. This allows me to support them with the best tools I have available, addressing not only their physical injury but their emotional and spiritual needs as well.
