About Julia M LaMonica

About

Originally from Queens, NY, I volunteered as a teenager at a local volunteer ambulance service, eventually leading to obtaining my EMT certification.  I enjoyed being engaged in the community and helping patients during their most critical moments and thus decided to continue my journey in medicine through nursing, ultimately becoming an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, primarily working in Emergency Medicine.  I completed a one-year fellowship in medical simulation and adult medical education at Jacobi Hospital, with an interest in how medical simulation can prevent medical errors and promote system improvements. I enjoy working at Stony Brook University Hospital as it offers a myriad of opportunities and resources to our patients and local communities.
