Maira Nusrat, MD

Dr. Maira Nusrat is a pediatric pulmonologist dedicated to helping children with complex and chronic respiratory conditions achieve the best possible quality of life. She has expertise in asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiectasis, and primary ciliary dyskinesia. During her fellowship training at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, she gained extensive experience caring for children with chronic lung disease and technology dependence, shaping her commitment to evidence-based, family-centered care.

Dr. Nusrat’s clinical research focuses on improving care for children with aerodigestive conditions and bronchiectasis, advancing outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration. She is equally passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians, reflecting her dedication to academic medicine.

Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Nusrat completed her medical training abroad before moving to the United States for residency and fellowship. She now serves children and families across Suffolk County through her practice at Stony Brook Medicine, blending innovation, compassion, and rigorous clinical standards.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her two young children and exploring the natural beauty of Long Island.
