Maria L Tovar, NP

Maria Tovar, NP, is an ANCC board-certified family nurse practitioner. She began her nursing career in 2013, spending three years in adult medicine before moving into Labor and Delivery (L&D), where she has worked for over nine years. Maria has extensive experience caring for women throughout their pregnancy journey, from the antepartum period through labor and delivery, and into the immediate postpartum period. She also provided newborn care, has hands-on OR experience assisting with cesarean deliveries, and educated new parents on different topics such as breastfeeding and the benefits of skin-to-skin. It was during her time in L&D that she discovered her passion for women’s health.

Maria earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY, and completed her Master of Science as a family nurse practitioner at LIU Post in Brookville, NY. As an NP, Maria brings her years of hospital experience to our office. Outside of work, Maria enjoys spending time with her four young children, her two Pomeranians, traveling with her husband and trying out new foods.
