Meagan T Ryan, PhD

Meagan Ryan is a clinical psychologist joining the Adult Outpatient Department as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Meagan received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2019 from The George Washington University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center; her rotations included the PTSD/SUD program, the EBP program where she was extensively trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and the Couples rotation, where she learned Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy. Meagan completed her postdoctoral training here at Stony Brook as part of the KPC-MBCRC Consortium Program and was part of the DBT team. She is very excited to be back!Her clinical and research interests center on the effects of exposure to potentially traumatic events and her clinical training involved combining a client centered approach with evidence-based interventions. Her graduate training also fostered a community psychology outlook, considering cultural and identify factors as well as the role of the various systems the individual is a part of on their symptoms. Living in DC during graduate school, Meagan became interested in policy and program evaluation/development, and using psychological research to influence change on a systems level.
