About
Dr. Meghana Rao is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. She Joined Stony Brook Medicine in September of 2022. She is a palliative care physician who specializes in treating the physical, emotional and spiritual symptoms of individuals facing serious illness.
She received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, India. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at HCA Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida, followed by a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Texas RGV.
Dr. Rao’s focus is on the integration of palliative care in oncology, and in addressing the unique needs of patients living with cancer and their families. She values the interdisciplinary teamwork in her field and hopes to bring awareness of the need for palliative care in various oncology settings
