Michael S Lui, MD

I am an endocrine surgeon at Stony Brook University Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Renaissance School of Medicine. After completing my general surgery residency, I pursued specialized training in endocrine surgery at Cleveland Clinic, where I gained extensive experience treating disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.

I chose endocrine surgery because it brings together two aspects of medicine that I find particularly rewarding: understanding how the body works, and using surgery to help patients feel better. Endocrine disorders are unique in that even small changes in hormone production can have a significant impact on a person's health. This allows me to care for patients with a wide range of conditions, from benign thyroid and parathyroid disorders to complex thyroid cancers and adrenal tumors.

I understand that the prospect of surgery can bring uncertainty and many questions. I want my patients to feel that they have someone who will listen to them, take their concerns seriously, and help them understand their diagnosis and options. I place great importance on building a relationship with each patient and working together to develop a personalized plan that reflects their needs and goals.
