About Michele Branigan

About

As a graduate of Stony Brook's Nursing School in 1985, Michele began her career as a registered nurse at Stony Brook University Hospital.  In 2010, she graduated from Stony Brook's Family Nurse Practitioner Program.  Michele's first position as a nurse practitioner was with a primary care office.  In January of 2013, she returned to Stony Brook Hospital as a member of the Palliative Care Team.  Assisting critically ill patients with pain control, symptom management, and goals of care planning was life changing.  Having an interest in anesthesia and lifesaving surgical interventions for patients, she then joined Pre-Operative Services in 2016.  Michele takes pride in working collaboratively with her colleagues to prepare patients for surgery.  In March of 2023, Michele joined the newly created Inpatient Anesthesia Consult Service to optimize hospitalized patients prior to surgery.  Serving the community throughout her career has been an honor and she looks forward to continuing to provide compassionate and evidence-based care.
