Morgane Giordano Factor, MD

After completing my anesthesiology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, I decided to pursue an obstetric anesthesiology fellowship because I am passionate about providing safe, high- quality care to all of our pregnant patients. I greatly value the unique opportunity to advocate for and provide safe anesthesia in order to improve maternal health outcomes. In order to accomplish this, I serve on multiple national- level committees through the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology as well as present challenging cases at yearly meetings.

I actively lead and participate in clinical research within obstetric anesthesiology. My principal study involves examining the relationship between nociceptive index as well as high frequency heart rate variability and epidural analgesia in the laboring patient. I also assist in the investigation of the use of oxytocin for cesarean sections, the SOAP Research Network GA Registry, and methods for predicting intraoperative pain during cesarean section.

As a Long Islander who attended Stony Brook for medical school, serving mothers within the community is especially meaningful.
