About Patricia J Osborne

About

Dr. Patricia Osborne is a clinical assistant professor and psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.  She obtained her B.A. from Middlebury College, M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Ph.D. from Ferkauf Graduate School/Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.  She completed several post-doctoral fellowships, including a two-year MIRECC PhD/MD clinical and research fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx.  Dr. Osborne has worked at academic medical centers in New York City, Boston, and Houston, Texas.  Her experience includes outpatient, inpatient, residential, partial hospital, and clinical research settings.   

Currently, Dr. Osborne is Associate Program Director and CBT Director for Psychiatry Residency Training.  Since her arrival at Stony Brook, she has developed and implemented a number of new programs, including the PGY-1/PGY-2 residency eating disorders course, Mind, Brain, and Behavior eating disorders course for medical students, PGY-4 OPD elective (co-developed), PGY-2 CBT Pilot, and PGY-4 psychotherapy elective.  Dr.  Osborne is Co-Chair of the Department's Suicide Postvention and Loss Committee and serves on a national committee for the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Training (AADPRT) related to her work with new program development. 

Dr. Osborne enjoys supervising trainees and has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and oral/poster presentations.  She works with a wide range of populations and conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, severe and/or treatment resistant depression, adjustment disorder, stress management, suicidality, health conditions including chronic pain and diabetes, psychotic disorders, and eating disorders.
