Dr. Pecoraro is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Stony Brook Renaissance School of Medicine and attending psychiatrist at Stony Brook Psychiatric Associates. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed Internal Medicine and Psychiatry residencies at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City. He is board certified by both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Pecoraro has worked in multiple psychiatric and medical venues over the course of his career. He practiced Emergency Medicine together with Psychiatry following residency training, Consultation Psychiatry/Psychosomatic Medicine for more than a decade for the Veterans Administration and worked in Community Psychiatry for the former Pederson Krag Center on their ACT Team and Patient Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program. He had a private practice for ten years in Northern New Jersey.Dr. Pecoraro returned to academic medicine at Stony Brook in 2017 as a consultation psychiatrist at the University Hospital and joined the Outpatient Department in 2018. He has an active clinic practice. He provides resident supervision and teaches a Psychopharmacology course for the second-year residents. He lectures on ADHD and sleep disorders. His interests are the Medicine-Psychiatry interface, sleep disorders and neuromodulation.He completed TMS training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in 2020.
