About

Dr. Randolph Hennigar currently serves as 1) Director of the Residency Program in the Department of Pathology at Stony Brook Medicine, 2) Medical Director of Autopsy Services at Stony Brook University Hospital, 3) Chief of Renal Pathology, and 4) Medical Director of the Stony Brook Biobank.  Dr. Hennigar did his residency training in Anatomic Pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a combined two-year fellowship in Renal Pathology and Molecular Oncology at the same institution.  He subsequently served as an Assistant than Associate Professor at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta from 1993-2013, and initially worked as an independent investigator studying the molecular mechanisms of lipid regulation in breast cancer before taking the positions of Medical Director of the Division of Renal Pathology and Electron Microscopy and Co-Director of Autopsy Services at Emory University.  In 2013, he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, and worked for seven years as a Staff Pathologist at Arkana Laboratories, the second largest renal diagnostic laboratory in the world, where he interacted with nephrologists from across the United States.  Accordingly, Dr. Hennigar is recognized nationally as an expert in diagnostic renal pathology with multiple publications in various aspects of the field.  He is also recognized locally as an expert in Autopsy Pathology.  As Director of the Pathology Residency Program, he has dedicated the latter part of his career to grooming young physicians to become responsible pathologists.
