I entered medical school with a passion for this field. I have always found neurology to be the most intriguing and rewarding field, but when I found out there is an option to specialize in concussion/TBI, I couldn’t think of a better fit. 

After completing residency in neurology, I completed fellowship training at one of the seven existing sports neurology programs. The entire focus of this field is to develop a deep understanding of this condition and to help patients navigate the complexity of symptoms/treatment options after concussions with the plan of them returning to prior activities as quickly and safely as possible. I have been involved in research studying the incidence of new psychiatric disorders after TBI and have publications regarding biomarkers and imaging techniques utility in diagnosing concussion. I plan to be continue being directly involved in further development of an accurate protocol to definitively diagnose concussion. 

I have a personal experience with a severe TBI in my teenage years. This gives me the extremely unique ability to genuinely relate to my patients. With this personal experience, I understand that every patient has unique needs and being able to individualize each treatment plan is something I thoroughly enjoy.
