Ryan S Hirschfeld, MD

Dr. Ryan Hirschfeld is a pediatric critical care physician with additional professional certification in palliative care medicine. He has expertise in caring for critically ill and injured infants, children, and adolescents admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, integrating a palliative care approach to providing family-centered care. His scholarly work engages with the patient and family experience during the period of transition from ICU to home-based treatment as a way to identify gaps in post-ICU family support and health resource needs. He has a particular interest in researching the impacts of providing post-ICU home-based medical care on families of children with chronic complex medical conditions.
