About Sahar Ahmad

About

Dr. Sahar Ahmad is a Tenured Professor of Medicine at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. She is originally from Brooklyn, New York and a graduate of Vassar College. Dr. Ahmad earned her MD degree from Cornell Medical College and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick;  and her Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship training at Montefiore Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Dr. Ahmad joined Stony Brook in 2013 and is currently board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is also testamur status Adult Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. Dr. Ahmad has clinical and research specialization in pleural diseases, echo- dynamics and clinical applications of Point- of Care- Ultrasound for the critically ill patient.
In addition to her practice and research, Dr. Ahmad contributes to the institution in several administrative roles including: Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Program Director of Pulmonary- Critical Care Medicine and Critical Care Medicine fellowships, Director of Ultrasound and Critical Care Education and chair for the Ultrasound Curriculum Task Force within the Renaissance School of Medicine. Dr. Ahmad oversees Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) education across the institution and simulation based training for the DOM residents & Critical Care fellows.
