About
I am thrilled to return home to Stony Brook, where my journey in anesthesia began. I completed a Critical Care Fellowship at NYP/Weill Cornell during the COVID-19 pandemic—a defining era that deepened my commitment to the field. Most recently, I served for five years at NYU Langone as a double board-certified Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Intensivist.
My passion for critical care began during my fourth year of medical school. I remember being struck by the sheer complexity of the ICU—the lines, the monitors, and the fragility of the patients. Rather than feeling overwhelmed, I became fascinated by the science of human resilience.
I often look to Stoelting’s description of critical illness as "disordered perfusion," with our role being the effort to "correct this imbalance." I find immense professional fulfillment in this process: simplifying what appears to be an overwhelming clinical situation into a systematic plan that restores a patient to their baseline. Whether I am providing anesthesia for a healthy individual in the OR, or managing a complex post-surgical unit, my goal remains the same: to provide clarity and stability during a patient’s most vulnerable moment.
I believe that the practice of medicine is an evolving art form. Beyond the bedside, I am dedicated to mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. Whether through simulation sessions, formal lectures, or bedside teaching, I find great reward in the collaborative nature of academic medicine. I truly believe that "in learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.”
