About
I have spent most of my adult life and medical career at Stony Brook University. I attended undergraduate college and medical school at Stony Brook University and then went on to train in the Emergency Medicine residency training program at Stony Brook University Hospital. My initial interest in emergency medicine began when I volunteered at Stony Brook volunteer ambulance corps., while an undergraduate. My medical school education, residency training, and career in Emergency medicine have fostered special interests in EMS, Critical Care, and medical education. I graduated residency training in 1996 and I came back to Stony Brook medicine in 2000 as faculty and EMS medical director. My true passion has always been medical education so I re-directed my career path to residency education and leadership. In 2013 I was given the opportunity and privilege to be the residency program director, a position which I still am honored to currently hold. I completed a fellowship in the Leaders of Medical Education fellowship program at Stony Brook University school of medicine in 2014 and have served the school of medicine and hospital on the GMEC, as SOM faculty senator and as a member of the Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Board. In 2020 I was honored with the 2020 EMRA Residency Director of the Year Award, a national award that recognizes a residency director who serves as a role model for residents and exemplifies those qualities residents value in a mentor.
