About
Dr Shanthy Sridhar -Professor of Pediatrics has been practicing Neonatal Perinatal Medicine for the past 25 years here at SB Children’s. As a Neonatal expert, her primary focus is on Newborn Resuscitation, Simulation Codes, and Regional NRP instructor in optimizing both perinatal and Neonatal Outcomes in the region. As the Medical Director of the NICU, she was instrumental in the opening of a single-patient room NICU in 2011 focusing on Patient-centered rounds and also piloting Compassionate connected care rounds in NICU-optimizing communication and patient satisfaction scores. As an Academic neonatologist and Professor in Pediatrics, she is actively engaged in training and providing ongoing mentorship on research projects and quality improvement projects with Medical students, Residents, Neonatal Nurse practitioners, and Neonatal fellows training future pediatricians and Neonatologists. Her collaboration with several Multicenter center trials focusing on Non-Invasive ventilation, retinopathy of prematurity, and optimizing neonatal Nutrition has optimized our network participation in national projects.
As medical director of Neonatal Transports and Pediatric Codirector of the Regional Perinatal Center, she has been actively involved in providing expert Neonatal consultation and quality oversite at regional meetings with our regional affiliates both at birthing and non-birthing hospital within the regional network in optimizing both neonatal and perinatal outcomes in our region. In collaboration with OB colleagues here at Stony Brook, Dr Sridhar has participated in several NYS quality Improvement initiatives including optimizing neonatal nutrition, NYS Birth equity projects, and OUD projects optimizing outcomes in neonates. Her recent accomplishment was in securing an award from NYS - serving as a physician lead on the SB neonatal telemedicine program offering Neonatal Consultation within the region with neonatal experts at Stony Brook Children’s and offering tele-resuscitation for our newborns within our regional affiliates both at birthing and non-birthing hospitals which will optimize neonatal and Infant outcomes in our region.
