As a graduate student I studied the way neuronal circuits could make important decisions utilizing chemical and electrical information transmission. By the end of my studies, I was most interested in epilepsy because chemical and electrical transmission of information is very abnormal. After caring for patients with status epilepticus in the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit during residency I decided to dedicate my work to epileptology.

Many patients with epilepsy don’t only experience seizures but also experience anxiety, mood, sleep, and memory problems. As an epileptologist I want to encourage my patients’ wellness and achieve seizure freedom.
