Sobia Khan, DO

Dr. Sobia Khan, DO, FASN is a board-certified nephrologist and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook Medicine. She provides comprehensive care for patients with chronic kidney disease, lupus nephritis, glomerular diseases, acute kidney injury, hypertension, and kidney failure requiring dialysis.

Dr. Khan is known for a thoughtful, individualized approach to kidney care. She takes the time to listen, explain complex kidney conditions in clear language, and work with each patient to develop a treatment plan that aligns with their health needs and goals. As an academic nephrologist, she combines current evidence and clinical expertise with a personalized approach to each patient.

Dr. Khan earned her medical degree from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Geisinger Health System and her Nephrology Fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she also served as Chief Fellow. Following fellowship, she joined Stony Brook as a faculty member.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Khan serves as Co-Medical Director of Stony Brook Kidney Center and is actively involved in medical education, quality improvement, and kidney research. She is a recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doctor award, recognizing her commitment to excellence in patient care.
