About
I Chose Anesthesia because it gives me an opportunity to save lives. I believe the anesthesiologist works as peri-operative physician who provides medical care to patients in a wide variety of situations. This includes preoperative evaluation, consultation with the surgical team, creation of a plan for the anesthesia (which is different in each patient), and postoperative pain management. As an anesthesiologist, we have the depth of training and experience to be able to react to save lives. I am providing anesthesia care to my patients for over 24 years, and I am committed to continuing to develop the quality and impact of my work in the clinical care of Orthopedic Geriatric patients and continue my focus on clinical trials and best perioperative pain management for orthopedic patients.
My research interests are focused on developing outstanding peri-operative care protocols and clinical infrastructure for patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery. I did many research projects in geriatric orthopedic patients, and I also focused some of my research efforts on the most appropriate type of anesthesia for geriatric patients with hip fracture. I collaborated with many experts in North America and joined a multicenter Clinical Trial to find out the best anesthetic management for hip fracture in geriatric patients. This clinical trial took place in major university hospitals in the United States and Canada with leading orthopedic anesthesiologists and resulted articles published in many high impact journals.
I implemented translational research efforts by connecting our basic science team to our clinical faculty. Through this translational research effort, along with a collaboration with the Department of Orthopedics, I was able to design and implement innovative evidence-based care plans. I explored new areas of clinical research to improve perioperative pain management for patients, especially those undergoing major joint replacement surgery.
