Thomas G Diacovo, MD

Dr. Thomas Diacovo is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, at Stony Brook University. He serves as Chief of the Division of Neonatology and Vice Chair of Pediatric Research. He is an expert in the care of critically ill newborns born at all viable gestational ages and with any medical or surgical issue. As a result of his training in Boston and a subsequent faculty position at an NYS institution capable of providing the highest level of neonatal care, including management of those with congenital heart disease, he has developed a particular interest in the prevention and treatment of blood clots in post-operative neonates. 

Dr. Diacovo is recognized nationally and internationally for his research in this area and has conducted ground-breaking clinical trials including testing of new medications to prevent complications associated with pathological clot formation and the use of rapid genetic screening to diagnose and treat babies with life-threatening conditions. He is a champion of family-centered care and the attainment of the highest level of health for all people.
