Tiffany Elyse Angelo, DO

After completing a residency at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital in Anesthesiology, I decided to pursue a Fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology in order to make the lives of laboring women better and safer. I recognized early on in my medical career that it is a privilege to be a part of such a special day in the life of a woman and her family and I am passionate about improving maternal care for all mothers.

I was fortunate to receive excellent training at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital for my Residency in Anesthesiology and Fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology and have been a leader in the field of Ob Anesthesia as a Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology for over 15 years. I am also an active collaborative investigator, educator, and administrative leader at Stony Brook and serve in leadership roles at the national level in the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. 

I actively lead and participate in clinical research in the field of Obstetric Anesthesia. Some of my research includes the use of Oxytocin for cesarean sections, trends in platelet counts in laboring women with preeclampsia, The SOAP Research Network GA Registry, Methods for predicting intraoperative pain during cesarean section, The Relationship Between NOL, High Frequency Heart Rate Variability Index (HFVI) and Epidural Anesthesia in the Laboring Parturient. I am also collaborating to attain a grant to look into inequities in maternal care due to race and a member of the New York State Birth Inequities Project.

As a mother myself, I understand what it is like to be on the receiving end of OB Anesthesia and I strive to make it a wonderful and safe experience for my patients. I was born and raised in Suffolk County. I see any medical improvements that I can make for Stony Brook as a win for my family and my community.
