About

Trevor Simcox, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Stony Brook University Hospital.

As a fellowship-trained Shoulder and Elbow specialist, Dr. Simcox has expertise in both non-operative and operative treatments, focusing on personalized care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. He addresses a wide range of orthopedic issues, from common to complex, with a particular interest in sports-related injuries, trauma, and both primary and revision shoulder and elbow joint replacements. Dr. Simcox is proficient in arthroscopic (minimally invasive) as well as open surgical procedures.

Dr. Simcox earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed his medical education at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. There, he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society, recognizing the top 10% of his class. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow surgery at the University of Florida. During his fellowship, he gained advanced training in complex open shoulder and elbow surgery, primary and revision joint replacements, and sports medicine, while working alongside the Florida Gators’ team physicians. Notably, the University of Florida Health System is one of only three National Medical Centers within the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Medical Network, providing Dr. Simcox with the opportunity to work in an elite medical environment dedicated to the highest standards of athletic care.

As a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society, Dr. Simcox has contributed significantly to the field through over 30 research publications, a textbook chapter, and presentations at both national and international conferences. His research interests include scapula spine and acromion fractures following reverse shoulder replacement, robotic and computer-assisted surgery, and sports-related elbow injuries.
