William M Burke, MD

Equal parts educator, clinician and scientist, gynecologic oncologist, Dr. William Burke exemplifies the ideal characteristics of an accomplished physician. He has broad experience teaching state-of-the-art surgeries for gynecological disease both nationally and internationally. Dr. Burke is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Gynecologic Oncology. As Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Stony Brook University Cancer Center, he specializes in providing the most up-to-date surgical treatments for patients with gynecologic malignancies. He has pioneered advanced surgical procedures for complex cases with particular expertise in laparoscopic, robotics and minimally invasive techniques. Much of Dr. Burke's academic practice has involved clinical trials and special training in cancer research.  Additionally, he is Clinical Professor and the Interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Medicine.

2017 APGO Excellence in Teaching Award. Awarded by APGO and the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center in recognition of
outstanding contributions to the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

2015 ACOG/CREOG National Faculty Award. Awarded for promoting high standards of
residency education in the field of obstetrics and gynecology
